OVERVIEW :

The GWSI 1 ml Class B serological pipette is a graduated, to-the-jet pipette for any volume from 0.01 ml up to 1 ml. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness in a straight 1 ml tube. Scale interval is 0.01 ml; Class B tolerance is ±0.010 ml to DIN ISO 835. Calibrated to deliver (TD) at 20 °C; the last drop is a blow-out. Yellow colour code. This is Class B glassware for routine serology and teaching — not Class A volumetric glassware. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks; this pipette takes a filler.

HISTORY :

Serum work needed dilutions you could stop at any mark, including the last drop. A Mohr pipette stops short of the tip; a serological pipette is graduated to the jet and marked as blow-out so the full 1 ml actually leaves. ISO 835 and ASTM E1044 later wrote Class A and Class B tables around that form. GWSI Glass Lab still draws the 1 ml Class B serological in Ambala as autoclavable lab glass.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS :

GWSI melts high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and draws a straight 1 ml tube (no transfer bulb). The jet is formed and fire-finished so delivery to the tip is even. The blank anneals in the lehr before the 0.01 ml scale, blow-out rings, and yellow code go on.

TESTING PROCESS :

First check is manual: jet, bore, scale plane, and colour band. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Capacity and delivery are then verified to I.S.O. DIN (ISO 835) / ASTM E1044 on a manual or automatic stand — TD at 20 °C, last drop blown out, Class B ±0.010 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is offered on request; it is standard on our Class A volumetric line, optional on this Class B lot.

PRINTING PROCESS :

The 0.01 ml scale, blow-out rings, yellow code, and GWSI mark are precision silk-screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln heat drives ceramic glass fusing so the scale locks into the glass matrix and survives detergent, serum, and steam.

PACKAGING PROCESS :

Cosmetic sorting pulls seeds, chipped jets, and skipped 0.01 ml lines. Pass pipettes pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap and tip guards for export from the Science City.

MAINTENANCE & SAFETY :

– Never mouth-pipette — use a filler; serological 1 ml work is still a splash and infection risk
– Blow out the last drop — this is not a Mohr pipette
– Read the meniscus at eye level; interval is 0.01 ml
– Work near 20 °C
– Wash with a pipette washer or mild detergent; keep grit out of the jet
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C if your SOP allows
– Do not force a hot-air oven that can craze the enamel
– Store in a pipette rack, yellow band visible, tips guarded
– Retire any pipette with a chipped jet, cloudy bore, or worn 0.01 ml line
