OVERVIEW :

The GWSI 5 ml Class B Mohr pipette is the first measuring pipette a student can run with a small filler. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness in a 5 ml stem. Interval is 0.05 ml; Class B tolerance is ±0.050 ml to ISO 835 Type 1 — wider than our Class A volumetric glassware ±0.030 ml. Calibrated to deliver (TD) at 20 °C, **wet tip**. Blue code, no blow-out rings. The blue 5 ml serological is the other drawer. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks.

HISTORY:

Five milliliters fits a cheap bulb and a first practical. Labs handed students a blue serological and taught blow-out by accident. A Class B Mohr 5 ml put the last line above the jet so the lesson was mark-to-mark from day one. GWSI Glass Lab still draws that teaching 5 ml in Ambala as autoclavable lab glass.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

GWSI melts high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and draws a 5 ml bore sized for a readable 0.05 ml line. The lowest mark sits above the jet; blue enamel goes on without rings. A lehr anneal then clears forming stress before the Class B print.

TESTING PROCESS:

The first test is manual: last line clear of the tip, 0.05 ml pitch, blue band only, jet. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Delivery is then checked to I.S.O. DIN (ISO 835 Type 1) on a manual or automatic stand — TD at 20 °C, two menisci, **wet tip**, Class B ±0.050 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is optional; specify the Class A 5 ml Mohr when the file needs a certificate.

PRINTING PROCESS :

The 0.05 ml Mohr scale, Class B / TD / 20 °C, blue code, and GWSI name are precision screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln heat drives ceramic glass fusing, so the last line survives detergent and a class-set washer.

PACKAGING PROCESS:

Cosmetic sorting pulls seeds, 0.05 ml lines that crowd the jet, and any double ring. Pass pipettes pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap and tip guards for class packs and export from the Science City.

MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:

– Never mouth-pipette — use a small filler
– Never blow out — blue plus **no** rings mean Mohr
– Run mark to mark; interval is 0.05 ml; work near 20 °C
– Do not mix with blue 5 ml serological in the same rack
– Do not put Class B into a Class A qualified set
– Wash in a pipette washer
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C if the SOP allows
– Store in a rack, tips guarded
– Cull chipped jets and worn last lines before the next practical
