OVERVIEW:

The GWSI 2 ml Class B Mohr pipette is the green-coded teaching pipette for 0.02 ml steps that leaves the jet full. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness in a 2 ml stem. Class B tolerance is ±0.02 ml to ISO 835 Type 1 — twice our Class A volumetric glassware ±0.010 ml. Calibrated to deliver (TD) at 20 °C, mark to mark. No blow-out rings. The green 2 ml serological is the dilution blow-out tool, not this Mohr. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks.

HISTORY:

Second-year dilution practicals live at 2 ml. Students already knew a green serological and emptied it. A Class B Mohr 2 ml put the same color on a Type 1 scale so 1.26 ml meant two lines, not a harder blow. College cartons could then stock both — if they kept the drawers apart. GWSI Glass Lab still draws the teaching 2 ml Mohr in Ambala as autoclavable lab glass.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

We melt high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and draw a 2 ml bore sized for a sharp 0.02 ml line. The lowest mark sits above the jet; green code goes on **without** rings. A lehr anneal then clears forming stress before the Class B print.

TESTING PROCESS:

Manual inspection comes first: 0.02 ml registration, dead-leg to the jet, green band only, jet. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Delivery is then checked to I.S.O. DIN (ISO 835 Type 1) on a manual or automatic stand — TD at 20 °C, two menisci, **wet tip**, Class B ±0.02 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is optional; the Class A 2 ml Mohr is the certified twin.

PRINTING PROCESS:

The 0.02 ml Mohr scale, Class B / TD / 20 °C, green code, and GWSI name are precision screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln heat drives ceramic glass fusing, so the last line stays above the jet after a class washer.

PACKAGING PROCESS:

A cosmetic sort rejects seeds, crowded 0.02 ml lines, and any double ring. Pass pipettes pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap and tip guards for class RFQs and export from the Science City.

MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:

– Never mouth-pipette — use a filler
– Never blow out — green plus no rings means Mohr
– Run mark to mark; interval is 0.02 ml; work near 20 °C
– Do not mix with green 2 ml serological in the same rack
– Do not file Class B into a Class A qualified set
– Wash in a pipette washer; grit hurts a 2 ml jet
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C if the SOP allows
– Store in a rack, tips guarded
– Cull chipped jets and worn last lines before the next practical
