OVERVIEW:
The GWSI 10 ml Class B Mohr pipette is the orange-coded college measuring pipette that does **not** empty the jet. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness on a 10 ml stem. Interval is 0.10 ml; Class B tolerance is ±0.10 ml to ISO 835 Type 1 — twice our Class A volumetric glassware ±0.050 ml. Calibrated to deliver (TD) at 20 °C, mark to mark. No blow-out rings. The orange serological is a different SOP. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks.
HISTORY:
Every Indian college indent listed “pipette 10 ml” and half the carton came as blow-out serological. Mohr’s 10 ml Type 1 was the piece that taught wet-tip measuring at the volume students actually use. Class B made that pipette a tender item. GWSI Glass Lab still draws the 10 ml Class B Mohr in Ambala as autoclavable lab glass.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
We melt high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and draw a 10 ml stem by master hand-blowing or automated tube-draw. The last 0.10 ml line is parked above the jet with a gap a student can see; orange code goes on **without** rings. A lehr anneal then strips forming stress from the long tube.
TESTING PROCESS:
Manual check comes first: last line clear of the tip, 0.10 ml pitch, no rings, jet. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Delivery is then verified to I.S.O. DIN (ISO 835 Type 1) on a manual or automatic stand — TD at 20 °C, two menisci, **wet tip**, Class B ±0.10 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is optional; order it on the Class A Mohr if the method needs a certificate.
PRINTING PROCESS:
The 0.10 ml Mohr scale, Class B / TD / 20 °C, orange code, and GWSI name are precision screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln firing completes ceramic glass fusing, so the last line survives detergent, media, and a student washer.
PACKAGING PROCESS:
A cosmetic sort rejects seeds, scales that run to the jet, and any accidental double ring. Pass pipettes pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap, length supported, tips guarded, for college cartons and export from the Science City.
MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:
– Never mouth-pipette — use a filler
– Never blow out — orange plus no rings mean Mohr
– Run mark to mark; interval is 0.10 ml; work near 20 °C
– Do not mix with orange 10 ml serological in the same drawer
– Do not file Class B into a Class A qualified set
– Wash in a 10 ml-length pipette washer
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C if the SOP allows
– Store full-length in a rack
– Cull chipped jets and worn last lines before the next class
