OVERVIEW:
GWSI’s 5 ml Class A Mohr is a short measuring pipette for 0.05 ml steps that never claims the jet. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness in a 5 ml TD stem. ISO 835 Type 1 Class A limit is ±0.030 ml at 20 °C. You run mark to mark and leave the tip wet. Our 5 ml serological is the blow-out twin — different glass, different SOP. Class B glassware is the drill grade. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks.
HISTORY:
When volumetric analysis left the burette, chemists still needed 5 ml they could stop anywhere. Emptying the tip made every analyst a different instrument. Mohr’s scale ended above the jet, so the film stayed out of the sum. That 5 ml Type 1 form is what QC still specifies when blow-out is banned. GWSI Glass Lab draws it in Ambala as autoclavable lab glass.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
We melt high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and form the 5 ml tube by master hand-blowing or automated draw. A layout pass then parks the lowest 0.05 ml line a fixed dead-leg above the jet and skips blow-out rings. Annealing in the lehr locks that geometry before print.
TESTING PROCESS:
Manual first: dead leg to the jet, 0.05 ml pitch, blue code only, no double ring. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Volume is then run to I.S.O. DIN on a manual or automatic stand — TD, 20 °C, two menisci, wet tip, ±0.030 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is offered on this Class A volumetric glassware; Class B Mohr from the same plant uses the open table.
PRINTING PROCESS:
0.05 ml Mohr lines, A / TD / 20 °C, blue band, and GWSI are precision silk-screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln firing completes ceramic glass fusing, so the lowest line does not wash off and get mistaken for a serological scale.
PACKAGING PROCESS:
Cosmetic sorting dumps seeds, banana stems, and any pipette that looks blow-out. Good pieces pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap and tip guards for export from the Science City.
MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:
– Filler only — no mouth pipetting
– Wet tip— if the jet is empty, you overshot
– Two marks — 0.05 ml interval, eye level, near 20 °C
– No double ring at the mouth; if you see one, you have the serological
– Do not file this serial into a blow-out method
– Wash in a pipette washer; no grit
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C only per SOP, then recheck Class A
– Rack tips in, blue band out
– Scrap a chipped jet or a missing last line
