OVERVIEW:
The GWSI 2 ml Class A Mohr pipette is a green-coded measuring pipette for 0.02 ml steps that never spends the jet. Premium borosilicate 3.3 glass gives high thermal shock resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and chemical inertness in a short 2 ml stem. ISO 835 Type 1 Class A tolerance is ±0.010 ml at 20 °C, TD. Deliver mark to mark; leave the tip wet. At 2 ml a blow-out film is a real error — that is why this is not our 2 ml serological. Class B glassware is the teaching Mohr. Interchangeable ground joints stay on flasks.
HISTORY:
On a 2 ml take, the drop in the jet is no longer “nothing.” Blow-out turned 1.26 ml into whoever blew harder. Mohr’s Type 1 2 ml put every hundredth between two lines and left the film behind. MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
We melt high-purity borosilicate 3.3 and draw a 2 ml bore tight enough for a sharp 0.02 ml line. The lowest mark is registered above the jet; the mouth gets a green code and **no** blow-out ring. The tube anneals in the lehr, so a short Class A stem does not carry print stress into the bore.
TESTING PROCESS:
First inspection is manual: 0.02 ml registration, dead-leg to the jet, green band only, jet. A polarization stress test on the polariscope follows. Delivery is then weighed to I.S.O. DIN (ISO 835 Type 1) on a manual or automatic stand — TD at 20 °C, two menisci, **wet tip**, Class A ±0.010 ml. NABL gravimetric calibration is available on this Class A volumetric glassware.
PRINTING PROCESS:
The 0.02 ml Mohr scale, Class A / TD / 20 °C, green code, and GWSI name are precision screened with glass enamels (ceramic inks). Kiln heat drives ceramic glass fusing, so the fine last line stays put and is not read as a to-the-tip serological scale.
PACKAGING PROCESS
Cosmetic sorting pulls seeds, merged 0.02 ml lines, and any double ring. Pass pipettes pack in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap and tip guards for export from the Science City.
MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:
– Never mouth-pipette — use a filler even at 2 ml
– Never blow out — at 2 ml that film is most of your ±0.010 ml
– Run meniscus to meniscus; interval is 0.02 ml; work near 20 °C
– Look for green band and **no** double ring
– Do not swap with a Class A 2 ml serological mid-method
– Wash gently; grit in a 2 ml jet ends Class A
– Autoclave this autoclavable lab glass at 121 °C only if the SOP allows; recheck volume after heat
– Store in a rack, tips guarded
– Retire any pipette with a chipped jet, worn last line, or cloudy bore
