OVERVIEW:

A GWSI Angled Receiver Adapter with a Vacuum Tubing port drops distilled condensate into a flask while a side arm pulls vacuum to keep the run under reduced pressure. It’s hand-finished from premium borosilicate 3.3 glass, giving it strong hydrolytic resistance, chemical inertness, and high thermal shock resistance even during high-boil distillations. The angled body saves headroom on your frame, and the hose barb takes standard vacuum tubing for a tight, leak-free seal.

HISTORY:

Vacuum distillation setups took off in the early 20th century as chemists sought to purify heat-sensitive compounds without breaking them down. An angled receiver with a built-in vacuum hose connection let operators pull reduced pressure and collect distillate in one continuous, sealed operation.

APPLICATIONS:

– Pharmaceutical processing — low-pressure distillation of temperature-sensitive active ingredients.

– Biotech / research labs — solvent removal and concentration under vacuum without oxidation.

– Industrial chemical recovery — sealed collection of distillates at reduced pressure for higher purity.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

GWSI melts high-purity borosilicate 3.3 glass and shapes each angled receiver by master hand blowing, forming the angle and hose barb with even wall thickness. A controlled annealing cycle removes internal stress, so the piece holds up through repeated vacuum and heat cycles.

TESTING PROCESS:

Every adapter passes a polariscope stress check to confirm zero residual strain around the angle and barb. Joint dimensions are verified against a NABL laboratory with high-precision gravimetric methods, so the *interchangeable ground joints mate precisely and hold a stable seal.

PACKAGING PROCESS:

Each receiver is cosmetically sorted to weed out any distortion, cracks, or joint flaws before it ships. Accepted pieces are packed in heavy-duty double-wall cartons with shock-absorbing bubble wrap, ready for safe export worldwide.

MAINTENANCE & SAFETY:

Clean: Rinse with acetone and mild detergent plus deionized water; keep the hose barb clear and joints free of abrasives.

– Autoclave safely: Sterilize at 121°C (15 psi) — this autoclavable lab glass handles it; cool slowly to prevent thermal shock.

– Store: Hold it in a padded rack, hose barb and joint faces protected from knocks against other glass.
