OVERVIEW :
GWSI Adapter, Socket to Cone with Side Arm and Screw Thread is a multi-connection glass adapter for linking ground-joint assemblies with threaded fittings and vacuum or gas lines. Made from premium borosilicate 3.3 glass, it offers high thermal shock resistance, strong hydrolytic resistance, and excellent chemical inertness. Manufactured by GWSI Glass Lab in Ambala, Haryana, India, it gives labs a tight, durable, and reusable connection for complex reaction setups.
HISTORY :
Socket-to-cone adapters developed with standardized interchangeable ground joints in the early 20th century. The side arm and screw thread design solved a key lab problem: adding gas, vacuum, or liquid access without disturbing the main glass assembly.
APPLICATIONS :
* Used in pharmaceutical synthesis for reflux, distillation, vacuum, and inert gas assemblies.
* Suitable for biotech labs needing clean, autoclavable lab glass for controlled transfer lines.
* Applied in industrial laboratories for solvent handling, pressure balancing, and threaded accessory connection.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS :
GWSI manufactures each adapter by melting high-purity borosilicate 3.3 glass and shaping the socket, cone, side arm, and screw thread through master hand-blowing or precision automated molding. The finished piece is annealed in a controlled furnace to relieve thermal stress and support reliable use under heating and cooling cycles.
TESTING PROCESS :
Each adapter is checked by a polarization stress test using a Polariscope to ensure zero residual stress and safe glass performance.
PACKAGING PROCESS :
Finished adapters are cosmetically sorted to remove pieces with visible blemishes, uneven joints, weak side arms, or thread defects. Each unit is packed in heavy-duty double-wall boxes with shock-absorbing bubble wrap for safe export handling.
MAINTENANCE & SAFETY :
* Clean with neutral lab detergent, rinse with purified water, and dry before connecting threaded fittings.
* Autoclave with caps or fittings loosened to avoid pressure build-up inside the side arm.
* Store padded and separated to protect the cone, socket, side arm, and screw thread from impact.
